The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has approved an Rs. 4.34 per unit rise in energy tariffs for the month of July, which would be effective for only one month. According to NEPRA authorities, the rate hike will be announced later.
NEPRA held a hearing to figure out how much the monthly fuel adjustment charges for July would be for the distribution companies (Discos). The hearing was presided over by NEPRA Chairman, Engineer Tauseef H. Farooqui, and NEPRA members, Engr. Rafeeq Ahmed Sheikh and Engr. Maqsood Anwer Khan.
NEPRA directed that this would also be valid for a month and would apply to all Disco customers, excluding lifeline and K-Electric customers.
Before giving a detailed decision, the chair decided that NEPRA would look at more data and analyze it.
