Many predict this will be Apple Watch’s biggest year. Apple may release a new model called Apple Watch Pro with a different size and design, breaking a tradition from the first Watch. New reports say the next Watch will be in different colours.
A more linear Apple Watch Series 7 successor is expected. That’s apparently Apple Watch Series 8. Shrimp’s latest tweet ApplePro has news about the Watch’s release and packaging. 9/6 update. There are plenty more details of what’s coming in terms of Apple Watch models leaking out like a faulty balloon before the special event on Wednesday, September 7. Ian Zelbo and Parker Otolani have created stunning colour renders of the Apple Watch Pro, as seen on 9to5Mac.
Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman says the body temperature sensor is coming to Apple Watch Series 8 and will be used for women’s health features related to fertility, with other uses coming later. He says the new Apple Watch SE will have the same S8 chip as the Series 8.
The new SE will look the same, says Gurman. That’s interesting because the Apple Watch Series 4 has that design, and I thought the new SE would look like the Series 7. Uncertain. The Series 8 will look identical to the Series 7, except for the colours. The Series 8 body temperature sensor will also come to the Apple Watch Pro, but not the new SE. Apple only includes its most powerful sensors in its most expensive products.
Gurman had previously said that Apple Watch Series 8 straps would work with the Apple Watch Pro, but not well. This is very un-Apple. Gurman has since tweeted that the new Apple Watch Pro bands will be extreme sports-themed. Fitness metrics will have info-dense faces.
A couple of things I’d point out regarding the Apple Watch Pro design:
– No flat sides. They are rounded like the Series 7.
– The new button on the left side is probably programmable to do whatever you want. For instance, launching a specific app, feature or workout.

That doesn’t contradict what he said, but I think Apple will want you to use the new bands on the Apple Watch Pro. Soon we’ll know.
Series 7 comes in blue, green, starlight, midnight, and PRODUCT (RED). Only stainless steel watches have silver, not aluminium. Series 8 aluminium may be released in the colours starlight, midnight,
The Apple Watch Edition’s titanium finish comes in titanium and space black. According to rumours, the Apple Watch Pro will replace the Edition. We’ll see.
PRODUCT (RED) is a new product. This seems likely. Every year, including this one, the colours change. warmer, darker, pinker, but always PRODUCT-red (RED). Also, the other colours may undergo subtle changes.
Availability:
The same leaker tweeted “little to no shipping delay” as stock is good. This is good news, and Apple’s keynote on September 7 is almost a week earlier than many expected, indicating a smooth supply chain.
Packaging:
The Watch’s tear-off seal is now paper instead of plastic. This year, we’ll use more glue so it’s clearer when the seal is peeled that the box has been opened.
The good news is that we’ll soon hear from Apple.
