On Tuesday, the Directorate of Municipal Administration (DMA) auctioned off the F-9 Park mega entertainment zone. But it couldn’t get any bids for taxi stands inside the city.
The DMA held an auction and got a bid of Rs 80 million per annum for the mega entertainment zone. But the taxi stands for intercity wagons that were in different places could not get any bids.
The last time the DMA sold taxis and wagons stands for Rs 42 million per year at an auction, The previous contractor is still running his business on that site, and DMA tried to auction it off without being able to take control of it, but no one bid.
“We sold the mega entertainment zone for Rs80 million per year at auction, but no one bid on the intra-city wagon and bus stands,” said DMA Shakeel Arshad, who was in charge of the auction.
“The previous contractor had also gotten a stay order from a local court to keep things the same,” the director said. “Now, we will not only fight this case hard in court, but we will also hold a new auction.”
The three-acre mega zone is one of the main things that people come to F-9 Park to see, especially on the weekends. It has a swimming pool, a bowling club, restaurants, shops, a play area, and a gaming zone.
After the MCI was created in 2016, it got the F-9 Park and the facility. The MCI rented it out for a small amount, but in 2019, the municipal government rented it for Rs60 million, which was more, and it has now been put up for auction for Rs80 million per year.
