On Monday, Pakistani mountaineer Sajid Ali Sadpara became the first Pakistani alpinist to reach the true summit of Mount Manaslu, the 8th highest peak in the world.
Sadpara’s team confirmed that he made it to the top of Manaslu before a big avalanche stuck the climber around C4 in the afternoon. Manaslu’s “true summit” became the center of attention when famous Nepali climber MingmaG said last year that all previous summits at the peak were not the actual summit and that there is still a long way to go to reach the natural top of the mountain.
After Mingma’s announcement, several climbers who wanted to break different records said they would try to climb Manaslu again. These climbers included Sirbaz Ali and Shehroze Kashif of Pakistan.
This season, Sajid Ali Sadpara, the son of the late Ali Sadpara, was one of the climbers who wanted to reach a true summit. His team confirmed that Sajid reached the top of Mt. Manaslu, 8,163 meters high, without using extra oxygen on Monday afternoon.
