Elon Musk’s company SpaceX has also reached an agreement to send Saudi astronauts to the International Space Station. Saudi officials say there will be extensive cooperation between American private space companies and Saudi Arabia.
In contrast, the decision to send the first Saudi woman to the space station is critical, for which preparations are being completed. According to the official Arab news agency, SPA will release more details of the Saudi space mission next month.
The United Arab Emirates is also expanding its space program, for which it is preparing to send a female astronaut, Noor Al Matrushi, to Mars.
Saudi Arabia sent its first space mission in 1985 (37 years ago). Under this mission, Prince Sultan bin Salman of the Saudi royal family is known as the first Arab, the first Muslim, and the first member of the Saudi royal family.
Prince Sultan bin Salman, speaking to Al-Arabiya in June, said that the Saudi Space Commission is part of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s Vision 2030.
