Hasan Minhaj, a comedian, made a joke about Malala earlier this month. He said she follows him on Instagram, but he doesn’t follow her back. After hearing his joke, Malala stopped following him. So, Minhaj put up a video on Instagram called “Malala Claps Back.”
The video starts with a breaking news report, and Hasan says, “Okay, sh*t’s gotten out of hand.” “On October 4, I joked about Malala Yousafzai, who won the Nobel Peace Prize. I said, “She follows me on Instagram, but I don’t follow her back.” The video then cuts to the joke he made.
“On October 5, she got back at him. She posts a question on her Instagram story: “Should I stop following Hasan Minhaj?” “Who is this man?” asked 39% of her voters. 38% of them answered, “Yes.” She stopped following me on Instagram instead of running against me. I’m sorry Malala. Come back to me. But I’m not sure if I’ll follow you. I’m that small.”
Malala shared the reel on Instagram not long after. She wrote in the caption, “Thanks to everyone who sent me this video, but I don’t follow this man anymore.”
Priyanka Chopra Jonas, 40, posted a picture of herself unfollowing the comedian on Instagram to show her support. She wrote, “Same Malala Yousafzai, same girl. Guess he likes being mean more than funny.”
Besides these two, many fans mentioned in the comments that Minhaj’s video might have been “petty.” One fan wrote, “The next Hasan Minhaj Netflix special should be called “Petty King.” Another person wrote, “Lol, what a Peter! If Malala follows you, unfollow her as soon as she follows you back.
