Jazz and GSMA Collaborate to provide Digital Solutions for female Micro-Entrepreneurs in Pakistan

A Memorandum of Intent (LOI) was signed by Jazz and the GSMA Mobile for Development Foundation with GSMA Connected Women to support female micro-entrepreneurs in Pakistan. This partnership, which coincides with International Women’s Day in 2023, fits with the DigitALL theme.

The partnership’s goal is to carry out research to better understand the potential and problems faced by women who use mobile technology for their enterprises. GSMA will give Jazz advisory help to scale strategies that further empower female micro-entrepreneurs based on the study’s findings.

This is an important step towards closing the gender gap in Pakistan’s digital economy. In Pakistan, only 12% of women and 37% of males have access to mobile internet, according to GSMA research. The alliance wants to expand women’s access to digital services and encourage financial inclusion for women by supporting female micro-entrepreneurs.

According to Jazz’s CEO, Aamir Ibrahim, “We are honored to collaborate with GSMA Connected Women to promote Pakistan’s growing number of female micro-entrepreneurs. We can increase the opportunity for women to engage in the digital economy and realize their full potential by working together.”

The collaboration is expected to improve the circumstances of Pakistan’s female micro-entrepreneurs, who frequently struggle to gain access to capital, markets, and technology. They will be able to overcome these obstacles and expand their enterprises with the help of Jazz and GSMA.
