Standard Chartered Bank Sponsors Over 1200 Footballers at Karachi United League

Standard Chartered Karachi United Youth Football League 2022–2023 has more than 1,200 football players who are sponsored by Standard Chartered Bank Pakistan. Thousands of community centres and more than 5,000 talented players have participated in this five-year relationship with the Karachi United Foundation. Since the tournament’s inception on November 25th, 2022, more than 180 games have been played in a variety of age divisions, including both boys and girls.

Standard Chartered Bank Pakistan’s Khadija Hashimi, Head of CABM, AME, and Country Head for Pakistan, stated: “With this league, we have been able to put kids from various cultures and backgrounds in friendly competition on an even playing field. Football enhances children’s abilities and game in addition to promoting good mental health and cognitive growth. Also, we have observed it making a significant contribution to the promotion of the participating youth’s equity, perseverance, respect, and tolerance.”

Karachi United’s Imran Ali, Director of Youth and Community, offered the following analysis of the league: “With the help of Standard Chartered Bank, we were able to cast a wider net this year, boost league participation, and make it more inclusive. We sincerely appreciate Standard Chartered for making this possible, and we are convinced that as a result, the performance of our teams will be much improved.”

League wants to remove barriers across classes, genders, and abilities in order to promote youth inclusion and equality. The competition gives young people the chance to improve their impoverished neighborhoods and gives them the motivation to strive for national football stardom. This league has been sponsored by Standard Chartered since 2017, and it keeps expanding yearly.
