The winning Pakistani team, RZX x Legacy, received PKR 1 million from Jazz’s online eSports platform, Game Now, in association with FreeFire, a well-known mobile multiplayer battle royale game from Garena. They bested 1,152 local teams during the month-long qualification rounds to win a spot among the 18 teams who will participate internationally in the FreeFire SEA Invitational (FFSI) 2023.
RZX x Legacy will depart for Thailand later this week. The upcoming competition will take place there from May 12 to May 28. This collaboration between Game Now and FreeFire aims to strengthen and advance Pakistan’s regional gaming industry.
Pakistan’s revenue from the online gaming business is anticipated to exceed $46 million in 2023 alone, with the global online gaming market likely to reach a value of over $32.5 billion by 2027. Jazz’s chief commercial officer, Kazim Mujtaba, emphasised the potential of this digital market by declaring: “Jazz is determined to help materialise this through Game Now.”
Jazz Game Now’s initiative supports SDG 9 – Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure – of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and Syed Arsalan Qamar, Stream Head Gaming, and eSports at Jazz, expressed the company’s excitement to play a pioneering role in achieving this digital feat.
This collaboration between Game Now and FreeFire honours Pakistan’s outstanding gaming talent and paves the road for the nation’s future gamers. The event serves as a show of support for the regional gaming industry and strives to promote a vibrant gaming scene where regional artists may be seen on a global scale.
