At its PTCL Group Club in Islamabad, PTCL Group, Pakistan’s top provider of communications and ICT services, presented a state-of-the-art futsal arena. The United Arab Emirates Ambassador to Pakistan, His Excellency Hamad Obaid Ibrahim Salem Alzaabi, the President and Group CEO of PTCL & Ufone 4G, Hatem Bamatraf, and other distinguished guests attended the inaugural ceremony.
A key component of PTCL Group’s dedication to encouraging physical health and wellbeing among its employees is the recently opened Futsal Arena. The facility will act as a bustling centre for promoting a healthy lifestyle and strengthening the organization’s sporting culture. Teams from the UAE Embassy and the PTCL Group competed in a thrilling futsal match to mark the occasion.
The UAE Ambassador, H.E. Hamad Alzaabi, commended PTCL Group for its ongoing commitment to the welfare of its workers. The PTCL Group’s president and chief executive officer, Hatem Bamatraf, emphasised the value of making investments in the health and wellbeing of employees, emphasising the initiative’s significance in energising the workforce and advancing the company’s long-term sustainability goals.
The Futsal Arena is an expansion of the company’s ‘Vitality Express’ programme, according to Shoaib Baig, Group Chief People Officer of PTCL & Ufone 4G, who also expressed the PTCL Group’s commitment to the wellbeing of its employees. Through sports and physical activity, this programme seeks to improve employee wellbeing and engagement, cultivating a motivated workforce committed to meeting organisational goals.
The UAE Ambassador, President, and Group CEO, along with the GCPO, gave silver medals to the runner-up team and gold medals and a trophy to the winner team in recognition of the participants’ outstanding performance.
The PTCL Group chose futsal, a quick-paced football variant played on a smaller pitch with five players on each side, to encourage teamwork, strategic thinking, and an active lifestyle among its staff members. The company’s goal of being the top employer in Pakistan’s telecoms industry is in line with this approach.
