In a press statement, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) foresees a dramatic change in the weather. Rainfall, brisk gusts, and thunderstorms are expected in Pakistan from September 15 to September 20. The moderate monsoon currents from the Bay of Bengal, which are predicted to reach the higher portions of the country during this time, are responsible for this meteorological event.
Furthermore, a westerly wave is forecast to sweep into these regions on September 16 and aggravate these meteorological conditions even further. Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan (GB), Murree, Galliyat, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore, Peshawar, and several other towns and districts are among the geographically extensive areas that are affected.
Streams and small Nullahs may experience increased water flows as a result of the Met Office’s predictions of moderate to heavy rainfall. Landslides in sensitive regions like Murree, Galliyat, Kashmir, GB, and numerous others are also a source of worry.
In light of these expectations, farmers are strongly recommended to modify their crop practices. Travelers and tourists are reminded to take precautions during this time. Additionally, it is recommended that people stay inside during windstorms, lightning, and heavy rains because these weather conditions could harm things like solar panels and electric poles.
The public is urged to stay informed about the latest developments by visiting the Pakistan Meteorological Department’s official website, which has alerted all pertinent agencies.
