The Huawei Mate 60 RS is a brand-new premium smartphone with a ceramic body and an adjustable aperture. With the Mate 60 RS, Huawei officially ends its partnership with Porsche Design and launches a new brand named “Ultimate Design.” The Mate 60 RS maintains all the flagship features featured in the Mate 60 Pro and Mate 60 Pro Plus thanks to Kunlun Glass 2 and a ceramic rear panel.
Just a few weeks after revealing the Mate 60 Pro Plus, which gave the Mate 60 Pro some hardware upgrades, Huawei unveiled the Mate 60 RS and MatePad Pro 13.2. Although Huawei hasn’t formally said it in its product lists, it looks that the Kirin 9000S powers both the Mate 60 RS and MatePad Pro 13.2.
The Mate 60 RS, which features a 6.82-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 2,760 x 1,260 pixels, a smooth 120 Hz refresh rate, and an LTPO backplane that permits changing refresh rates, is essentially a redesigned Mate 60 Pro Plus. Additionally, Huawei has used Kunlun Glass 2, which has proven to be remarkably durable in a PBKreviews video. The Mate 60 RS has a scratch-resistant ceramic rear panel, in contrast to the Mate 60 Pro Plus.
The Mate 60 RS also has an octagonal camera shell to protect the same premium cameras found in the Mate 60 Pro Plus, including a 48 MP main camera, a 48 MP telephoto camera, and a 40 MP ultra-wide-angle camera. The Mate 60 RS’s primary camera features a unique f/1.4-f/4.0 variable aperture as well as OIS technology to improve image clarity. The Mate 60 RS also sports a sizable 5,000 mAh battery, IP68 certification for water and dust protection, and satellite call capabilities according to Huawei.
The Mate 60 RS costs CNY 11,999 (about US$1,646) and CNY 12,999 (about US$1,784) in China in versions with 16 GB of RAM and either 512 GB or 1 TB of storage. Similar to the MatePad Pro 13.2, Huawei has not yet stated whether it intends to release the Mate 60 RS internationally. Since the firm already declared that the Mate 60 Pro would continue to be available only in China, it seems likely that the Mate 60 RS will receive the same treatment
