The Standard Chartered Karachi United Youth League, a premier community project aimed at encouraging young people to participate in sports, has officially inaugurated its sixth season with the support of Karachi United. Through its sponsorship of this league, which began in 2017, Standard Chartered has had a positive influence on the lives of almost 5000 kids.
The SC KU Youth League’s main goal is to provide a forum for football teams from Karachi’s underprivileged neighborhoods to come together, break down barriers, and establish a culture of sportsmanship and competition among neighborhood kids. More than 1200 boys will compete in the current edition across a range of age divisions, including Under 10, Under 12, Under 14, and Under 16, as well as a separate Government School tournament. The league is also reaching out to new audiences by launching a Girl’s competition with 180 participants.
Six distinct venues in Karachi will host 206 games this season, including the Khyber Muslim Ground in Baldia Town, the Old Golimar Football Ground, the Jam Eleven Ground in Malir, the Karachi United Clifton, and the Kakari Ground in Lyari. Football fans from all over the city should be drawn to the variety of venues.
Rehan Shaikh, CEO of Standard Chartered Pakistan, expressed delight in the transformational project and emphasized how football helps young people acquire tolerance, equity, and values like mental health and cognitive growth. Imran Ali, CEO of Karachi United, expressed this view and praised Standard Chartered for its constant support, which has allowed the league to develop and given participants the opportunity to become educators, coaches, business owners, and even sailors.
Due to the long-standing relationship between Standard Chartered and Karachi United, the SC KU young League has come to represent professionalism and excellence in Karachi’s young football scene. The partnership between these groups helps to foster young athletes’ love of the game while advancing youth equity and inclusiveness.
