Ayla Majid, a brilliant professional from Pakistan, has accomplished a significant milestone by being appointed deputy president of ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants), the world’s preeminent organization for professional accounting. ACCA, a prominent organization with over 3.5 million members and students across 191 countries, currently ranks Majid, an Islamabad-based company, second in the world.
Majid expressed her pride and underlined her dedication to increasing possibilities globally. She said, “I am dedicated to fostering greater access to life-changing opportunities for individuals globally.” She emphasized the importance of her nomination as a Pakistani woman and the preparedness of women from developing countries to make global contributions, encouraging diversity and resilience in organizations.
With 22 years of experience in transaction advice, mergers and acquisitions, and project development in the infrastructure and energy industries, Majid brings a wealth of knowledge to the table. Her fourteen years of leadership have included chairing boards in several industries.
Currently serving as CEO of Planetive, Majid was formerly a member of the World Economic Forum councils and was named a Young Global Leader. Founded in 2020, Planetive is an advocate for decarbonization, energy transition, and sustainable finance, with a particular emphasis on the Middle East and Pakistan.
Ronnie Patton, a retired Northern Ireland accounting lecturer, was recently chosen as the ACCA president.
