Pakistani Telco Onic Signs Strategic Alliance with Careem

Pakistan’s new digital telco brand, Onic, and the leading ride-hailing platform, Careem, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish a strategic partnership. This collaboration aims to create a robust digital ecosystem catering to the needs of consumers in Pakistan.

The MoU signing ceremony was held in Islamabad on March 29, 2024, with Omer Bin Tariq (Onic Pakistan Country Head) and Imran Saleem (Careem Pakistan General Manager, Ride Hailing) officiating the agreement. Hatem Bamatraf, President and Group CEO of PTCL & Ufone 4G, also attended the event, highlighting Onic’s commitment to prioritizing customer needs in Pakistan.

Bamatraf emphasized Onic’s goal to be a leading digital telco brand with a “challenger mindset,” aiming to redefine Pakistan’s digital landscape. He described the Careem partnership as a significant step towards leveraging technology for positive change. By working together, Onic and Careem will provide a comprehensive platform for users’ digital lifestyle needs, with Onic’s innovative app evolving into a holistic solution provider for enhanced convenience.

Imran Saleem, representing Careem, expressed excitement about collaborating with Onic to drive innovation and shape the future of Pakistan’s digital lifestyle. This partnership aligns with Careem’s mission of simplifying lives and offering exceptional experiences to its customers.

This MoU marks a major milestone for Onic’s expansion in the digital telecommunications sector. Together, both companies aim to drive technological advancements that empower Pakistani communities and transform the way people connect and commute within the country.
