Elon Musk has confirmed that Starlink is awaiting government approval to launch its satellite internet service in Pakistan. This follows an application by Starlink Internet Services Pakistan (Pvt.) Ltd. and advocacy from US officials.
The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) is currently reviewing Starlink’s application, focusing on technical aspects like bandwidth and infrastructure. The National Space Agency (SUPARCO) is also conducting its assessment.
Starlink’s entry into Pakistan holds the potential to significantly improve internet access, particularly in remote areas, boosting economic growth and enhancing disaster relief capabilities. However, navigating the regulatory process and meeting technical requirements remain key challenges.
