Pakistan’s salt exports to China have witnessed an impressive surge of 40% in the first quarter of 2025, marking a significant boost in bilateral trade. According to official data, Pakistan exported over 13.64 million kilograms of salt to China, valued at approximately $1.83 million. This sharp rise reflects growing trade cooperation between the two countries, particularly under the framework of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
Compared to the same period last year, when salt exports to China were valued at $1.30 million, the increase highlights China’s rising demand for various types of salt, including edible salt, pure sodium chloride, and industrial salt used across multiple sectors. The expanding Chinese market has opened new avenues for Pakistani exporters, showcasing the strategic importance of agricultural and mineral products in Pakistan’s export basket.
This surge not only strengthens economic ties between Pakistan and China but also presents broader opportunities for Pakistani businesses looking to expand their reach in international markets. With CPEC initiatives continuing to enhance connectivity and trade logistics, further growth in exports is anticipated in the coming quarters. The increase in salt exports underscores Pakistan’s potential to diversify its export profile and benefit from the dynamic Asian markets.
