BankIslami Acquires Landmark Altitude Tower – Pakistan’s Tallest Bank Office

BankIslami, one of Pakistan’s fastest-growing Islamic banks, has officially acquired the 32-storey Altitude Tower in Karachi, making it the tallest bank-owned office building in the country. This landmark move marks a bold step in the Bank’s journey towards becoming a powerhouse in digital and Shariah-compliant financial services.

The newly acquired Altitude Tower will serve as BankIslami’s national headquarters, unifying its executive leadership, operations, technology, innovation, and business teams under one modern, centrally-located roof. This strategic consolidation is designed to enhance operational efficiency and reflect the Bank’s ambitions for continued growth and innovation in Islamic banking.

The acquisition comes on the heels of a strong first quarter in 2025. BankIslami reported a Profit Before Tax (PBT) of PKR 5.49 billion, with a 6.3% year-on-year growth in total income and an impressive 98% surge in non-fund-based income. The Bank also posted a robust Capital Adequacy Ratio (CAR) of 22.89%—well above the SBP’s regulatory minimum of 11.50%—and maintained a healthy Asset-to-Deposit Ratio (ADR) above 50%.

In parallel, BankIslami recently launched aik, Pakistan’s first fully digital Islamic banking platform. Designed for mobile-first users, aik provides a seamless, Shariah-compliant banking experience and enables users to open Riba-free accounts in minutes. The platform is already gaining rapid adoption across both urban centers and underserved rural communities, highlighting BankIslami’s commitment to inclusive, ethical, and tech-forward banking.

President and CEO Rizwan Ata emphasized the significance of the new headquarters, stating that the Altitude Tower acquisition not only strengthens infrastructure but also reaffirms the Bank’s vision to scale digital transformation rooted in Islamic values. “With a strong Q1 and the successful launch of aik, we are delivering not just growth—but meaningful, purpose-driven progress,” he said.

BankIslami currently operates a nationwide network of over 540 branches and 550+ ATMs. The new headquarters will also feature the Bank’s cutting-edge Islamic Digital Innovation Lab, dedicated to building next-gen Shariah-compliant fintech solutions tailored for Pakistan’s evolving financial ecosystem.
