PTA to Block Pakistani YouTubers Over Anti-State Content

As diplomatic tensions between Pakistan and India rise, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), in coordination with the National Cyber Crimes Investigating Agency, has taken a bold step against Pakistani YouTubers accused of spreading anti-state narratives online.

According to official sources, several YouTube channels have been flagged for allegedly promoting hate speech, disinformation, and content aimed at undermining Pakistan’s state institutions and military leadership. The PTA claims this material is not only harmful to national security but also risks fueling public unrest during a sensitive time of regional conflict.

The PTA has compiled a list of controversial channels and submitted it to the federal government, seeking immediate clearance for their permanent blockage across Pakistan. Prominent figures like Imran Riaz, Sabir Shakir, Siddique Jan, and Shahbaz Gill have been named among those allegedly responsible for spreading incendiary content.

In a move that signals serious intent, the PTA has already blocked channels operated by Ahmed Noorani and Waqar Malik, marking the beginning of its crackdown. The authority says the technical groundwork for restricting further access is complete, pending final government approval for execution.

Furthermore, PTA has reached out to YouTube’s global team, urging the platform to take appropriate action under its own community guidelines and international rules against hate speech and misinformation. The goal, officials say, is to prevent further misuse of digital platforms to destabilize national harmony.

As the digital landscape continues to influence public opinion, the PTA’s aggressive stance reflects growing concerns about online narratives and their real-world consequences.
