In celebration of World Environment Day, Zindigi powered by JS Bank and the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) have launched a large-scale plantation drive at LDA Avenue 1, Lahore. This initiative, part of Zindigi’s ongoing CSR efforts, is designed to promote environmental sustainability and contribute to a greener, cleaner Lahore for future generations.
The drive was officially inaugurated by Zindigi Chief Business Officer Atif Ishaque, Vice Chairman LDA Mian Marghoob Ahmed, and DG LDA Tahir Farooq. The leadership teams planted the first saplings to kick off the campaign, reinforcing a collective commitment to tackling climate change.
Pakistan, being among the top 10 most climate-vulnerable countries, faces serious environmental challenges—from rising temperatures to urban smog. Initiatives like these serve as nature-based solutions to reduce carbon emissions, improve air quality, and preserve biodiversity in urban areas.
Highlighting regulatory progress, DG LDA Tahir Farooq shared that LDA has now made grey water treatment plants mandatory in one-kanal houses. He emphasized the importance of private sector partnerships in spreading awareness about sustainable construction and global green standards. He also noted LDA’s plantation of over 300,000 trees with the support of the private sector.
“At Zindigi, we’re not just planting trees—we’re planting hope, resilience, and a sense of responsibility,” said Atif Ishaque. “True business growth must come with purpose.”
Vice Chairman LDA Mian Marghoob Ahmed mentioned that under CM Punjab Maryam Nawaz’s directives, LDA is prioritizing eco-friendly initiatives including solarization, sustainable urban planning, and promotion of green buildings to combat environmental threats like smog.
This plantation drive is a strong example of a public-private partnership that aligns with global goals like UN SDG 13 (Climate Action) and SDG 15 (Life on Land). Through this initiative, Zindigi is extending its commitment beyond digital innovation into environmental stewardship—paving the way for a cleaner, more sustainable Pakistan.
