PSO, BYD & HUBCO Green Launch Pakistan’s First NEV Fast-Charging Station on M2 Motorway

In a game-changing move for Pakistan’s green mobility future, Pakistan State Oil (PSO), BYD Pakistan – Mega Motor Company (MMC), and HUBCO Green have jointly launched the country’s first New Energy Vehicle (NEV) fast-charging station on the Lahore–Islamabad (M2) Motorway. This pioneering installation marks the beginning of a major national rollout aimed at easing range anxiety and accelerating the adoption of electric vehicles across the country.

Located at the Magic River Rest Stop, this state-of-the-art facility includes two 60kW DC fast chargers capable of delivering a 50% charge—approximately 160–200 km of driving range for a BYD Atto 3—in under 30 minutes. What sets this station apart is the integration of clean energy with modern traveler amenities. PSO’s Experience Hub features the VIBE Café & Store, offering high-quality coffee and artisanal snacks, alongside modular SEED-certified convenience retail integrated with e-commerce.

The partnership aims to establish 128 fast chargers along major highways from Karachi to Peshawar, with 50 stations expected by December 2025. These will be spaced every 150–200 km, providing essential infrastructure to support long-distance NEV travel in Pakistan.

PSO’s Chief Strategy & Technology Officer, Mr. Mohsin Ali Mangi, highlighted this initiative as part of a broader energy transformation strategy. He emphasized PSO’s commitment not only to clean energy but also to redefining travel comfort through innovations like Asaan Safar, executive roadside amenities, and digital integration via the Fuelink app.

HUBCO Green’s CEO, Mr. Kamran Kamal, reinforced their strategic goal of promoting sustainability in Pakistan’s mobility sector. He stated that this collaboration is just the beginning of a much larger plan to scale NEV infrastructure across the country.

Meanwhile, BYD MMC’s Vice President of Sales & Strategy, Mr. Danish Khaliq, noted this launch as a key step in enabling intercity NEV travel. Backed by BYD’s global leadership in electric vehicles, the company plans to support this infrastructure push with cutting-edge fast-charging technology that slashes waiting times for travelers.

This landmark development symbolizes a united effort by energy and automotive giants to modernize Pakistan’s transport ecosystem. By bridging clean energy solutions with nationwide accessibility, the trio of PSO, BYD MMC, and HUBCO Green is laying down the foundation for an electrified, sustainable future—on and off the road.
