The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) and the Global Digital Inclusion Partnership (GDIP) have reinforced their strategic collaboration on the global stage at the Internet Governance Forum (IGF) 2025. The high-level bilateral meeting, held in line with their signed Letter of Cooperation, brought together key leadership including PTA Chairman Major General (R) Hafeez Ur Rehman, HI (M), and GDIP Executive Director Ms. Onica N. Makwakwa.
Both organizations reaffirmed their joint commitment to fostering inclusive and equitable digital ecosystems. With a special focus on gender-responsive policies, the meeting emphasized the need for sustainable connectivity initiatives that ensure no one is left behind in the digital revolution. PTA provided updates on several ongoing projects, notably its Gender Digital Divide program, which aims to bridge access gaps through targeted efforts, and its upcoming Subsea Cables Workshop, designed to strengthen Pakistan’s digital infrastructure.
The discussions also highlighted future collaboration under the Gender Inclusion Strategy and explored fresh avenues to expand the impact of digital empowerment initiatives. These joint efforts signal a continued push toward meaningful connectivity for all—especially women and marginalized communities—in alignment with Pakistan’s national digital vision.
As Pakistan’s digital landscape evolves, PTA’s engagement with international partners like GDIP underscores its role in shaping inclusive policies and global cooperation. The authority remains committed to sustainable and inclusive digital transformation that delivers real-world impact across all segments of society.
