In a major facilitation move, Overseas Pakistanis can now register their mobile phones tax-free for up to 120 days during each visit to Pakistan, under the latest policy introduced by the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR). The initiative is aimed at making travel and digital access easier for Pakistanis living abroad, allowing them to stay connected without paying heavy import taxes.
The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) is enabling this service through its automated Temporary Mobile Registration System, available free of cost via the DIRBS portal at https://dirbs.pta.gov.pk/drs. This platform ensures seamless access to mobile services without any registration fee or tax burden—perfect for short stays or family visits.
This 120-day tax exemption is part of the government’s ongoing efforts to support Overseas Pakistanis and reflects PTA’s commitment to bridging digital gaps for travelers entering the country. With no paperwork, long queues, or hidden charges, the system is user-friendly and fully online, ensuring a smooth experience for users.
This policy is expected to benefit thousands of visitors each month and reinforces Pakistan’s vision for a more connected and digitally inclusive society.
