Free Voice Minutes Announced in Flood-Hit Areas of Punjab

As devastating floods continue to affect large parts of Punjab, Cellular Mobile Operators (CMOs) in collaboration with the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) have introduced critical relief measures to support impacted communities. Among these efforts, free voice minutes are now being offered in flood-affected regions, allowing people—especially those with zero balance—to stay connected with family and emergency services.

This initiative comes at a time when uninterrupted communication can be a lifeline. Recognizing the urgency, Zong 4G, Pakistan’s leading technology and connectivity provider, has stepped forward with targeted support for residents near the Sutlej, Chenab, and Ravi rivers—areas most impacted by rising water levels.

Zong is offering 30 free on-net minutes and SMS to affected users in the districts of Bahawalnagar, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Kasur, Okara, Pakpattan, Sahiwal, and Sialkot. The goal is simple but powerful: keep people connected when they need it the most.

This relief effort follows similar support Zong extended earlier to flood-affected communities in AJK and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK), further reinforcing the company’s commitment to standing by Pakistanis in times of national emergencies.

As a responsible operator, Zong remains dedicated to serving the nation not only through innovative connectivity solutions but also by extending timely support in critical situations,” said Sajid Munir, Director Marketing at Zong.

The PTA has acknowledged and appreciated the efforts of all CMOs, affirming that it will continue to closely monitor the situation to ensure uninterrupted telecom services in affected areas. The authority also reiterated its dedication to facilitating communication access for all, especially in times of crisis.

As floodwaters continue to displace thousands and impact infrastructure, these free voice and SMS services are more than just a gesture—they’re a vital link for families, emergency responders, and community support systems.
