Multiple KFC Outlets Sealed Over Alleged Tax Violations

The Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA) has sealed several outlets of the fast-food chain KFC in Lahore over alleged tax non-compliance, officials confirmed on Tuesday.

According to sources, at least five KFC branches have been sealed across the city, including outlets located in DHA EME, Askari 10, and DHA Z Block. The action was taken as part of an enforcement drive targeting businesses accused of violating provincial sales tax regulations.

Officials said the outlets were sealed due to alleged irregularities related to sales tax compliance. However, further details regarding the exact nature of the violations were not immediately disclosed.

KFC has yet to issue an official response. PakScoop has reached out to the company for comment, and its stance will be included once received.

The move comes shortly after the PRA sealed multiple outlets of the coffee chain Double Shot in Lahore. In that case, authorities alleged misreporting of sales data and violations of electronic invoicing requirements.

In an order issued under Section 59A of the Punjab Sales Tax on Services Act, 2012, the PRA stated that the business had allegedly bypassed the mandatory Electronic Invoice Monitoring System (EIMS) and under-declared taxable sales, prompting enforcement action.

Meanwhile, similar enforcement activity has also been reported in the federal capital. In Islamabad, tax authorities sealed a Red Apple outlet in F-6 Markaz over allegations of issuing unverified or non-authenticated sales tax receipts.

Officials say the recent actions reflect a broader crackdown on tax evasion and non-compliance, with authorities warning that further inspections and sealings may follow if violations continue.
