Saying Goodbye to Pakistan’s ‘King of Comedy’ Umer Sharif!

Recently Legendary comedian Umer Sharif passed away in Germany on Saturday after battling serious health problems. He was 66. Umer Sharif was critically ill and had undergone a heart bypass surgery last year and since then, his condition had deteriorated further. He was also diagnosed with memory loss and was confined to a wheelchair.

Umer Sharif was born on 19 April 1955. Mohammad Umer, known professionally as Umer Shareef, was a Pakistani actor, comedian, director, producer, and television personality. He was regarded as one of the greatest comedians in the sub-continent.

Umer Sharif is a good actor. Umer Sharif has won the hearts of millions of people on the basis of his acting. He received the National Award for Best Director and ‘Best Actor’ in 1992 for the superhit film Mr 420. He was also the host of the hugely popular Geo TV show called The Shareef Show.

Umer Shareef interviewed several actors, entertainers, musicians, and politicians on the show. He also appeared as a guest judge on the Indian stand-up comedy show The Great Indian Laughter Challenge alongside Navjot Singh Sidhu and Shekhar Suman.

Sharif received the National Award for Best Director and Best Actor in 1992 for Shree 420. He received ten Nigar Awards. Sharif was the only actor to receive four Nigaar Awards in a year. He received three graduation awards. Sharif is also a recipient of the Tamga-e-Imtiaz.

For someone who spent his life spreading joy and laughter, he left everybody heartbroken and grief-stricken in death. RIP Umer Sharif Sir!
