Meta Platforms has huge news for developers, as they have decided to gift their first-ever AR glasses, Orion. Meta believes that the developers will build and work for the device-specific software experiences.
It was three years ago when Facebook decided to develop AR glasses for early adopters and developers. But the executives were confused about whether they should sell it or not. However, now they have decided to gift it to the developers.
The glasses developed by Meta are costly and also have specifications that are not fully designed for consumers. Previously Snapchat made a similar announcement that they will be giving their AR glasses to software developers.
Meta aims to release another version of AR glasses that is not very expensive, named Hypernova.
You can easily pair it up with a phone, once the device is available. It will show notifications and messages with a heads-up display of a smaller size.
Meta also plans to drop the idea of a dual-camera smartwatch this week. It is because of the difficulty in implementing EMG technology to control the AR glasses with brain signals.
