Meghan Markle is facing criticism for comparing her wedding to Nelson Mandela’s release. In a recent interview with The Cut, Meghan reportedly said that a South African cast member had said that her wedding to Prince Harry would bring South Africa as much joy as Nelson Mandela’s release from prison in 1990.
“He looked at me, and he was just like light,” Meghan said. “I just want you to know: When you married into this family, we rejoiced in the streets the same way we did when Mandela was released from prison,” he said. According to the Daily Express in the United Kingdom Previously, a man who claimed to be the only South African cast member denied ever meeting Meghan Markle.
Although there are thought to be no further South African actors starring in the film, there were other South African nationals involved in the film who may have attended the premiere, the publication reported. According to Express.co.uk, Lindiwe Mkhize, a South African singer who sang Circle of Life in the 2019 remake and also acted in the stage play, was also present at the event.

“I have never met Meghan Markle,” Dr. Kani said. This appears to be a blunder on her part. “I have never met the Duchess; I am the only South African member of the cast, and I did not attend the London premiere.”
