Why Workspaces with Daycares are Rare in Pakistan?

For a number of reasons, the idea of workplaces incorporating daycares is still relatively new in Pakistan. First of all, there is a general lack of knowledge and comprehension of the significance of offering childcare facilities in the workplace. There is a societal expectation that women should be largely responsible for caring for children, hence many companies in Pakistan do not regard it as their responsibility to offer childcare services.

Government rules and incentives to encourage employers to offer daycare services are also lacking. Employers find it difficult to justify the cost of a daycare centre due to this and the high operating costs.

Yet, there is a rising understanding in Pakistan of the necessity for workplace daycare services. There is a growing need for childcare services as more women join the workforce. While some forward-thinking firms are beginning to provide on-site childcare facilities as a means of luring and keeping talent, it will take some time for this idea to catch on in Pakistan.
