Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) and TikTok's MoU Aims to Enhance Digital Safety

At the PTA Headquarters in Islamabad today, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) and TikTok signed an MoU to work together. This coordinated initiative aims to create a more secure online environment for Pakistani adolescents, particularly in public schools.

The main goal of this collaboration is to advance digital safety by using a comprehensive strategy that includes numerous projects. These include instructional guidelines and teacher, parent, and student-specific training programs. These will be made available via numerous platforms, including workshops, seminars, webinars, and awareness videos. The main goal is to address concerns linked with social media usage while illuminating its lawful and responsible use.

Maj Gen (R) Hafeez ur Rehman, Chairman PTA, the Directors General (WAD) and (S&D), as well as representatives from the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication (MoITT), were present at this crucial event. Mr. Fahad Khan Niazi, Head of Public Policy and Government Relations, Pakistan, and Ms. Zara Basharat Higgs, Head of Public Policy Programs South Asia, respectively, were in charge of representing TikTok.

Chairman PTA underscored PTA’s unwavering commitment to online security during his speech. PTA’s commitment to promoting a more safe online environment is demonstrated by this collaboration with TikTok, a well-known social media site.

This partnership is in line with the shared goal of the two organizations of creating a safe digital environment. PTA hopes that this innovative effort will encourage other social media sites to take a similar approach and work with PTA to improve the local digital landscape.
