Pakistani Students Win Big at Istanbul University Global Public Speaking Moot 2025

A 21-member delegation of Pakistani students has made the nation proud by earning top honors at Istanbul University’s Model United Nations (IUMUN), Türkiye’s largest public speaking competition. Representing prestigious institutions like Bay View Academy, Karachi Grammar School, Lahore Grammar School, Nixor College, and The Cedar School, the team competed fiercely among over 700 students from 19 countries.

Despite being some of the youngest participants, the Pakistani students stood tall in a three-day intense debate across 10 international committees. They emerged victorious in 4 out of the 8 main committees. Ahmed Naseem Kharal and Yahya Jamali earned the Outstanding Diplomacy Award, while Ayla Tariq, Muntaha Kamran, and Waniya Umair secured Honorable Mentions for their exceptional performances.

Hosted by Istanbul University — one of Europe’s oldest and most respected institutions founded in 1453 — the competition drew global attention with students from around the world. With alumni like former Turkish President Abdullah Gül and Foreign Minister Turan Güneş, the university added prestige to an already high-stakes event.

This achievement puts Pakistani students on the global stage once again, showcasing the country’s growing presence in international academic and diplomatic competitions. It’s not just a win for the students — it’s a proud moment for Pakistan.
