Google has officially launched AI Mode in Pakistan, introducing its most powerful Search experience yet. Powered by a custom version of Gemini 2.5, AI Mode allows Pakistani users to get faster, smarter, and more comprehensive answers to complex queries, making Search more intuitive and conversational.
First introduced in the US earlier this year, AI Mode is now expanding globally and has quickly gained popularity for its speed, quality, and fresh responses. Unlike traditional search, users can now ask longer and more complex questions — early testers showed queries are already two to three times longer than before. This makes it especially useful for tasks like planning trips, comparing products, or understanding detailed “how-tos.”
For instance, Pakistani users can plan a Hunza trip by asking for a 5-day itinerary, then follow up with prompts like recommending local dishes to try. Parents can also ask for free online resources for their child’s grade 9 math revision and get instant, locally relevant suggestions.
Behind the scenes, AI Mode uses query fan-out technology to break down complex questions into subtopics, diving deeper into the web than ever before and surfacing hyper-relevant content. The result is a search experience that combines AI capabilities with Google’s Knowledge Graph, shopping data, and real-time web content.
What makes AI Mode stand out is its multimodal approach. Users can type, speak, or even upload images via Lens. For example, snapping a photo of spices in a Karachi market and asking how to use them in Pakistani cooking delivers instant results. The conversational style makes follow-up questions seamless, transforming the way people browse and learn.
AI Mode continues to prioritize content discovery by helping people reach high-quality sources across the web. When confidence in an AI response is low, users still receive traditional search results, ensuring accuracy and reliability. Google acknowledges it is an evolving product but emphasizes continuous improvement in factuality and performance.
AI Mode is now available in Pakistan in English through the Google App on Android and iOS, as well as on both mobile and desktop web.
