Zong, Pakistan’s Leading Technology Services Enterprise, showcased its network strength, 5G-ready infrastructure and intelligent capabilities during the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority’s (PTA) on-ground Quality of Experience (QoE) assessment across Islamabad and Rawalpindi. As part of the wider multi-city survey, Islamabad International Airport served as key demonstration of Zong’s leadership, where the company is the only operator to have deployed a 5G active DAS Indoor Building Solution (IBS), reflecting its continued investment in advanced connectivity, future-ready network infrastructure and reliable customer experience.
Led by PTA Chairman Major General (Retd.) Hafeez Ur Rehman, who personally tested voice call quality and mobile internet services, the exercise brought together senior PTA officials, including Member (Finance) Muhammad Naveed, Member (Compliance and Enforcement) Dr. Khawar Siddique Khokhar, Member (Telecom) Muhammad Jahanzeb Rahim and DG (Enforcement) Brigadier (Retd.) Amer Shahzad, alongside representatives of MoITT, mobile network operators, media and Zong Leadership. Three dedicated teams conducted parallel on-ground assessments across the twin cities, evaluating real-world voice and data experiences, including download speeds, call stability, connectivity and service continuity across multiple locations. The field assessment reinforces Zong’s leading position in PTA’s independently published Q2 2026 QoS Survey and Mobile Network Experience Benchmarking Opensignal Reports.
Nationwide, Zong has surpassed 1,000+ 5G sites, including 275+ 5G-enabled sites across the Twin Cities, the highest deployment in the industry. Moreover, Zong has industry highest # of 1,000 sites in the twin cities. The company continues to strengthen network capacity, reduce congestion, and enhance data performance, particularly in high-traffic locations and during peak usage hours. Advanced technologies such as Carrier Aggregation, which combines multiple spectrum carriers to deliver greater bandwidth, further optimize spectrum utilization, improve network efficiency, and enhance the overall customer experience.
Zong’s 5G DAS IBS at Islamabad International Airport demonstrates its commitment to extending high-performance connectivity beyond conventional outdoor coverage. Designed to deliver seamless indoor connectivity across the airport, the infrastructure provides a foundation for next-generation digital, intelligent travel experiences and a dedicated Customer Facilitation Desk, offering travelers convenient SIM activation, data services and on-ground support.
The PTA noted that initial findings reflected Zong’s strong network performance and improvements in the quality and reliability of services across the surveyed areas. The regulator emphasized that the field assessment was designed to evaluate actual consumer experience, identify potential service gaps and drive further improvements. It reaffirmed its commitment to sustained field monitoring, evidence-based evaluation and close coordination with operators to strengthen service quality and ensure continuous improvement across the sector.
For Zong, network excellence is the foundation of its transformation into a Technology Services Enterprise, enabling the shift from connectivity to intelligent, technology-led services. Zong’s infrastructure reflects its readiness to support the country’s growing digital ambitions, with independent assessments consistently recognizing its performance across speed, reliability and latency.
Looking ahead, Zong remains committed to working with PTA and industry partners to advance network excellence and accelerate Pakistan’s digital transformation. Through innovation, sustained investment and future-ready connectivity, Zong aims to bridge the digital divide, unlock new opportunities and contribute to building an intelligent, inclusive and digitally empowered society.
