Alain Prost- TAG Heuer brand ambassador

TAG Heuer is proud to announce that four-time World Champion Alain Prost is re-joining the prestigious dream team of TAG Heuer Brand Ambassadors. The French motor-racing legend, will play a prominent role alongside Vodafone McLaren Mercedes stars Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button for the Swiss watch brand’s “150 Years of Motor-Racing” celebrations in 2011.

“It is great to be back!” said Prost after winning on Sunday December 5th at Val Thorens / French Alps the 1st Race of the ‘’Trophée Andros’’ Ice Championship.

“I’ve been a friend of TAG Heuer since my earliest days in F1 and we have worked very closely when I drove for McLaren. It’s a privilege and an honor to be back by being associated with Lewis and Jenson to commemorate their 150 year-long contribution to motor-sports’’ mentioned Alain Prost”.

The return of a TAG Heuer Legend

Alain Prost was wearing TAG Heuer colors and chronographs when he won three of his four FIA Formula One World championships for McLaren in the late 80s. The second most prolific winner in F1 history, Prost took a total of 51 victories, 33 pole positions, 41 best laps and 106 podiums in 199 races between 1980 and 1993. His smooth, relaxed driving style earned him the nickname “Professor” but it was his intense competitive edge that won him the respect of fellow drivers and the admiration of motor-sports fans around the world. In 1999, he received the World Sports Awards of the Century alongside Pelé, Muhammed Ali, Carl Lewis and Steffi Graf.

‘’TAG Heuer has a unique DNA in motor-sports, combining Prestige and Performance. Their iconic products are directly inspired by cars, tracks and drivers. I will work very closely with TAG Heuer designers to develop some specific timepieces’’ stated Alain Prost.

“We are delighted to have Alain back in our team,” said TAG Heuer President and CEO Jean-Christophe Babin. “He represents one of our longest-standing relationships in motor-racing. We backed him during one of the truly golden period of Formula One, when he was battling it out with Ayrton Senna, another prestigious F1 brand ambassador. Later, we supported him in the Andros Ice Race as we will do again in 2011. Now he’s back to help Lewis, Jenson and the whole TAG Heuer motor-sports partners to celebrate our 150 years of Mastering Speed’’.
