Telecom Company Caught Red-Handed in Gas Theft Allegations

An international mobile phone provider with operations in Pakistan is charged with stealing gas from a main pipeline in Karak, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Sui Northern Gas Pipelines (SNGPL), in response to a federal government demand to tighten down on gas theft, has filed a First Information Report (FIR) against the operator.

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa district’s Karak mobile phone tower was raided by SNGPL’s regional team. During the procedure, it was found that the generator used to power the cell tower was using an unlawful gas hookup.

The FIR showed that Jazz, a significant telecom business, is in charge of running the tower in question. The tower’s employees were discovered unlawfully siphoning gas from the main 8-inch gas line using a 200-foot pipe. The SNGPL crew consequently seized the business’ generator, pipe, and other tools related to the gas theft.
