Top celebrity meltdowns of 2010

MEL GIBSON: Lindsay Lohan, George Michael and Charlie Sheen are just a few of the spectacular celebrity meltdowns 2010 has seen – when celebrities go bad, they don’t do it in half measures. We take a look at this year’s worst cases.
Chief among them must be Mad Max actor Mel Gibson. He kicked off the fame shame game when tapes were leaked of him berating his estranged lover Oksana Grigorieva, mother to his eighth child, Lucia. He called his lover every name under the sun, including a whore and gold digger, before he allegedly threatened to kill her. The battle rages on in court but 54-year-old Mel says he ‘only’ slapped his missus.
Next up, welcome back George Michael. Wham! bam, he ended in the slammer after smacking his car into a London Snappy Snaps store in July. The 47-year-old was sent down for eight weeks for driving under the influence of drugs and possessing cannabis. After receiving a five-year driving ban, the singer vowed we’d see a lot more of him in 2011 but for all the right reasons.
Joining him on the bus will be Sugababes singer Amelle Berrabah after she landed herself with a 14-month driving ban. She was stopped on her way to meet a fitness instructor but was still boozed up from the night before. The usual suspects also made an appearance.
Lindsay Lohan and Paris Hilton returned to their wicked ways in 2010. Lohan, 24, spent the last half of the year in and out of jail and rehab as she struggled to keep herself clean. After serving just 14 days of a three-month term for probation violations, she was sent back to jail and then rehab for the rest of the year after admitting on Twitter she’d failed a drugs test.
