VEON is working to refurbish its classic mobile phone business by providing free or low cost services. It ranks among the world’s 10 largest communications network operators, with around 235 million customers in 13 countries.

The messaging app, which is designed to compete with the likes of Facebook Inc.’s WhatsApp and Rakuten Inc.’s Viber, offers free services to customers via its mobile network without users incurring data charges as other apps do.

You can customize your profile; invite new people to the community.

Multimedia Messaging: send video, images and text.

Group Messaging: Create groups and easily message your friends or family

Avoid Data Charges: If you subscribe to a VEON inclusive data plan, there are no data charges when you use the VEON app in your country.

Bonus Data and Offers: If you subscribe to a VEON inclusive data plan, you can enjoy additional benefits just for being on that plan.

Free VEON Calling: Call your friends and family for free with VEON to VEON voice calls, even if they’re in another country. VEON Calling uses your phone’s Internet connection rather than voice minutes from your mobile network.
(Note: you can’t access short-code number and other emergency service numbers through VEON Calling)

Quickly Connect Your Contacts: You can choose to use your address book to quickly and easily connect you with your contacts who have VEON or invite others to join VEON.

If you are on a VEON inclusive data plan, using the VEON app does not reduce your existing call minutes, text or data allowance when you use the VEON app in your country. For all other networks, data plans or outside your country, data and SMS charges may apply.

Down the line, it will also allow users to book ride-hailing services such as Careem and Uber along with hotel bookings, making peer-to-peer payments and much more, straight from the app.
