If you frequently use Facebook and Instagram, you probably already know about the avatars similar to Bitmoji, serving as a virtual representation of our online personas. Recently, Meta released 3D Avatars for Instagram and Facebook, Messenger, allowing users to build and modify a virtual version of themselves called a Bitmoji. You can design an avatar of your own, any way you seem fit, with any accessories, hair, skin tone, eyes, or clothing, according to your choice. WhatsApp too has started following the trend, which is part of other Meta-owned companies i.e., Instagram and Facebook. Earlier, WhatsApp had expressed interest in introducing the latest video calls feature, which may allow the users to swap out for a virtual, customized avatar instead of themselves.
According to the latest update reports by WABetaInfo, it has made a confirmation regarding introducing avatars on WhatsApp. A report by WABetaInfo states, “Thanks to avatars, you may be able to use an avatar as a mask while placing video calls (but probably it will take a long time before being available to users). So, don’t hold your breath as WhatsApp avatars are not going to be arriving anytime soon”.
Not only that, but you can share the Avatars as fashion stickers with your connections as fashion stickers, similar to that on Facebook or Instagram. Furthermore, it was also revealed in the report that the corporation is continuing to work on its avatars project even though the most recent Android 2.22.16.11 WhatsApp beta version has also been released.
How will the users utilize WhatsApp Avatars?
The report by WABetaInfo also showed how the Avatars will appear on WhatsApp. The shared screenshot indicates, “There is a header image at the top of the section: it suggests that the avatars available on WhatsApp are taken from Facebook since they are the same”.
You can edit your avatar and use it as a sticker, sharing it with contacts, similar to Facebook or Instagram. Unfortunately, WABetaInfo has not told us anything regarding when WhatsApp users will be able to utilize the Avatar function, which is still in development.
