Users will be able to find these communications on WhatsApp by visiting a new section named “Kept Messages” under the chat details page, which is likely to be accessible to all participants in a conversation.

According to reports, WhatsApp is developing a new feature that would let users add a caption while sharing documents on WhatsApp Desktop.

A report from WABetaInfo claims that the Meta-owned instant messaging service is now working on a new feature called Kept Messages. This feature is anticipated to be released with a future WhatsApp beta version and will probably be accessible on Android, iOS, and desktops.
The report also mentions that because the new feature is still being created, beta testers cannot yet access it. The report could only provide a preview of the Kept Messages functionality and no information regarding when it will be made available to beta testers.

How Do Kept Messages Function?

The Kept Messages function, according to the report, turns a message that is about to vanish into a conventional WhatsApp message for users to find it in the chat even after its expiration. Users will be able to find these communications on WhatsApp by visiting a new section named “Kept Messages” under the chat details page, which is likely to be accessible to all participants in a conversation.

The report further claims that when a chat’s fading messages function is turned on, those messages cannot be starred; instead, they can only be kept.

In a future update to the WhatsApp Desktop beta version, WhatsApp intends to incorporate some information regarding upgrading disappearing messages to introduce this feature. According to the report, users will be able to keep a message that is about to disappear in a group chat so that other participants in the conversation won’t automatically erase it. However, all members will be able to later un-keep the message for other participants.

The report further asserts that WhatsApp might permit group administrators to restrict this capability. It suggests that a new privacy setting may enable group administrators to activate the ability to keep a disappearing message.
