Due to heavy rains in the provincial capital’s restaurant district, a non-operational restaurant at Do Darya Karachi partially collapsed, prompting the closure of five further eateries with portions of their dining spaces built over piers that extended into the sea.

According to South Tabriz Deputy Commissioner (DC) South Tabriz Sadiq, the event at the Kahwati restaurant did not result in any recorded fatalities. However, due to safety concerns, the authorities decided to close off portions of every restaurant along the same stretch of coastline.

In order to prevent any untoward incidents, he said that additional deputy commissioner 2 and assistant commissioner civil lines prohibited the public from accessing the dining places built over piers in the sea.

The district administration closed the dining decks of Kolachi, Kababjees, Al Habib, Al Sajjad, and Charcoal in response to the directive. Following a no objection certificate being issued to the facility owners by the DHA Engineering Department, all restaurants will be open to the public.
