The makers of the forthcoming movie Yaara Vey have come under fire from veteran actor and director Marina Khan after they failed to compensate her for her appearance in the movie with the agreed sum. Khan, who would portray the adoring mother Soni, did not hesitate to express her dissatisfaction with the shortfall in remuneration. She continued by discussing more production pauses in the movie, such as a holdup in contract signing.
Khan said that she might delay the film’s release if she preferred until the payment was received and processed. Her goal is solely to raise awareness of the problem that affects everyone working in the film industry, from up-and-coming talent to established names.
In her post, she said, “To all my Instagram followers. I am very upset that this movie is being released as I was not paid by the producers for the full amount they promised me. Also, they kept delaying the contract signing. So technically, if I wanted, I could probably put a stay order on the release, but I am lazy and frankly don’t give a rat’s a** anymore. To the producers of this film, all I can say is shame on you”.
After her message went live, the Tanhaiyan Naye Silsilay actor, who is acknowledged by the people as a “living legend,” instantly received support online. Many criticized the lack of deference paid to professionals who have been in charge of movies and local television for decades.
