South Korean technological giant Samsung is expected to up its smartphone camera game with a reported new sensor debuting in the flagship device the Galaxy S23 Ultra. The device is still a few months away from its anticipated launch, which is expected in the first quarter of 2023 and is already making rounds on various platforms.

According to reliable Ice Universe, the South Korean company would be using an ISOCELL HP2 sensor. The 200 MP sensor was released about 10 months ago. Although there is already an HP3 variant, the sensor will go by the designation ISOCELL HP2.

The ISOCELL HP1 was the first 200MP sensor, which is expected to debut in Motorola smartphones this month. The ISOCELL HP3 followed with a 1/1.4″ footprint and faster auto-focusing thanks to a new pixel design. Each quad cluster can discern between variations in vertical and horizontal directions, and it has AF capabilities.

Another source said that a 10 MP 10x periscope module would remain the same even though the primary camera will be replaced.
