A man cut his throat in mosque

After a failed suicide attempt, Nisar was admitted to the ICU. On Friday, a 55-year-old man made an attempt on his life inside a mosque owned by the Defence Housing Authority (DHA) of Karachi.

Details indicate that the event happened within the Masjid-e-Umar Farooq, which is situated in DHA Phase-VI. With a shaving razor, the man known as Babar Nisar attempted to sever his throat. According to Rohail Khan, the superintendent of police for the Clifton Division, the incident happened after Jumma prayers. Khan described the horrifying public occurrence in detail, claiming that Nisar had slit his throat as the faithful were leaving the mosque following Friday prayers.

Nisar was saved from harming himself by the worshipers and the policeman stationed outside the mosque for security, he continued. To receive medical attention, the injured person was brought to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC).

According to JPMC Executive Director Dr. Shahid Rasool, the patient has transported right away to the operating room, and after a quick procedure, he was transferred to the surgical intensive care unit (ICU). The patient was stable but was now being kept on a ventilator, according to Dr. Rasool.

The patient was examined by Dr. Abdul Basit, a JPMC Medical-Legal Officer (MLO). He claimed that Nisar had his neck slit and was brought into the hospital’s medico-legal department. He was transferred to the operating room once the patient’s major blood vessels were determined to be safe.

Nisar’s family reportedly told the MLO that the patient had depression and psychiatric problems. His relatives informed the medical professionals that he is a fabric seller. He took out a loan to assist his drowning cloth firm, but he was unable to recover from the losses.

To support the family’s claims, the Station House Officer (SHO) of Gizri police station Agha Mashooq was contacted. The injured party wasn’t in a position to record his statement, according to Mashooq. He said, “When the injured individual recovers, the police will take his statement.”
