Schools in Sindh will be closed on Thursday

Chief Minister (CM) Sindh Murad Ali Shah on Wednesday announced the closure of all educational institutions in Sindh amid heavy rainfall in most parts of the province. The CM has issued directives to the department of education following the decision.

BIEK Postpones Exams

Previously, the Board of Intermediate Education Karachi (BIEK) postponed its annual tests, which were planned for August 18.

Papers of Arts (regular and private) and practices (Science group) for the HSC annual examination-2022 have been delayed, according to a notification published by the BIEK.

Heavy Rainfall Forecasts

In its latest forecast on severe monsoon rains and urban floods in Sindh and Balochistan, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) advised authorities to be on high alert.

According to the most recent weather advisory, a monsoon low-pressure region remains over eastern Sindh and neighboring west Rajasthan (India).

According to the Met Department, widespread rain-thunderstorms with scattered heavy/very heavy rainfall — extremely heavy at times — and accompanied by occasional high gusts are expected in Shaheed Benazirabad, Naushero Feroze, Khairpur, Sukkur, and Larkana until August 19.

Rains in Karachi and around the country have killed over 600 people since the start of this year’s monsoon season, with Balochistan bearing the brunt of the damage, with over 180 civilians slain.
