Dengue fever cases are on the rise in Karachi & Islamabad

Sindh Health officials are worried about a possible outbreak of dengue because 76 new cases have been reported in the last 24 hours. This brings the total number of dengue cases in the provincial capital to 787 so far this season.

The Sindh Health Department says that there have been 78 cases of dengue in the province. This is because water from heavy floods and rain is standing in many places in the province. The department said that there were 839 cases of dengue in Sindh, most of which were in Karachi (787).

The Health Department also said that 76 of the 78 reported cases have only been found in Karachi. In the last 24 hours, 27 cases were reported in the central district, 19 in the district south, 5 in Malir, 4 in Korangi, 19 in the East District, and one each in the Kemari and West districts. According to data from the Health Department, there have been 2,643 cases of dengue in Sindh so far this year. It shows that 2,280 cases had been just in Karachi.

At the same time, there were nine cases of dengue in Hyderabad, two in Badin, seven in Umerkot, four in Mirpur Khas, two each in Tharparkar and Larkana. Experts in health have warned that the dengue virus could turn into an epidemic if steps aren’t taken, like spraying insecticides. On the other hand, the district health officer (DHO) said that there were 22 cases of dengue in Islamabad in the last 24 hours.

During the rainy season, the number of cases of the disease spread by mosquitoes has gone up in the federal capital. According to data shared by the DHO of Islamabad, there have been 22 cases of dengue in the federal capital, 17 of which were in rural areas and 5 in cities. So far, the DHO of Islamabad said that there have been 163 cases in rural areas and 51 cases in urban areas. One person has died from it.
