You may have heard that the new cameras on the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro have a problem with third-party apps that makes their autofocus or OIS systems go crazy and vibrate out of control. Apple is working on a fix for the problem.

This means that videos taken with the camera can’t be used, and it could even damage the hardware. The iPhone 14 and 14 Plus, on the other hand, don’t seem to be affected.

Also, Apple’s own camera app works fine, which suggests that the problem is not with the hardware but with the software. Again, it only affects cameras that are not made by Apple. Installed apps shouldn’t be able to mess up your camera, so this is most likely a bug in the camera API.

If your phone has this problem, you should know that there is no known way to fix it other than to stop using Instagram, Snapchat, TikTok, and similar apps that cause it. Apple says a fix is coming next week, so you’ll have to wait.
