On Ruby Street in East New York, where Fayaz had planned to purchase a car through Facebook Marketplace, the incident occurred on Saturday night. However, 38-year-old Randy Jones attempted to rob Fayaz during the encounter and was shot dead as a result. After being captured, Jones was indicted for attempted robbery and murder in Rockland County.

Authorities claim Jones was unaware of Fayaz’s connection to the NYPD. Fayaz, who left a wife and two young children behind after serving the department for five years with distinction, was a devoted family man.
Fayaz was remembered as a committed cop who consistently put the safety of others before his own. The NYPD and the whole law enforcement community are mourning his passing.
Police Commissioner Dermot Shea praised Adeed Fayaz as “a brave and selfless man who committed his life to serve and protecting the citizens of New York City.” His passing leaves his family, his coworkers, and the community with a great loss.
The authorities are requesting anyone with knowledge to come forward as the investigation into the shooting is ongoing. In this trying time, the NYPD is also offering assistance to Fayaz’s family and coworkers.
The incident serves as a reminder of the risks law enforcement personnel confronts daily and the sacrifices they make to maintain the safety of our communities. Adeed Fayaz’s passing won’t be forgotten, and he’ll always be regarded as a hero.
