Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) Urges NADRA to Provide Provincial Statistics for Enhanced Monitoring and Analysis of Census Data

The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has received a notice from the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) requesting that statistics requested by provincial governments, particularly Sindh, be included in the Monitoring Dashboard. The choice was determined at the eighth meeting of the Census Monitoring Committee, which was led by Minister PD&SI and occurred on March 11, 2023.

The notice orders NADRA to give provincial and regional Chief Secretaries, Commissioners, Deputy Commissioners, and Assistant Commissioners access based on their roles. For Chief Secretaries, the dashboard has already been made available.

The notification highlights the severity of the issue and urges that NADRA’s staff make sure that all district-level Deputy Commissioners and Assistant Commissioners get it by March 15, 2023. For the national census activities to continue to be transparent and credible, this is essential.

The census will become more precise and reliable by including the facts demanded by provincial governments, which will aid in border engagement. Better monitoring and analysis of the census data will be possible thanks to the Monitoring Dashboard, which will make it simple to get the necessary facts.

Ultimately, the notification from the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) to NADRA is an important step in ensuring the credibility and success of the national census.
