Pakistani Writer Anwar Maqsood Seeks Action Over Fake Social Media Profiles

Anwar Maqsood, a well-known writer and television host from Pakistan, has contacted the appropriate authorities to inquire about the operation of 17 social media accounts using his name without his knowledge or consent.

Maqsood clarified that he does not have a smartphone and is not associated with any social media platform. He expressed his worry about the frequent statements and remarks posted on these accounts, particularly those criticising the Pakistani ruling party, PTI, and other touchy subjects.

He recommended that the appropriate authorities take harsh action against the people or organisations in charge of setting up and running these accounts, and he urged the public not to believe any statements or comments made on social media that are ascribed to him.

A well-known figure in Pakistan’s literary and entertainment worlds, Maqsood has written a number of books and produced and directed a number of well-liked television programmes. Throughout his career, he has actively participated in social and political concerns and voiced his ideas on a variety of forums. Nonetheless, he has made it plain that he has not authorised anyone to represent him on social media and that he does not condone any views or comments published on these accounts.
