In a remarkable match at the R.Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, India registered their biggest one-day international (ODI) victory against Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2023. India defeated Pakistan by a commanding margin of 228 runs.

India set a formidable target of 357 runs for Pakistan, who struggled in their response, finishing at 128-8 in 32 overs. Notably, Naseem Shah and Haris Rauf did not bat due to injuries, and only four Pakistani batsmen reached double-digit scores. Fakhar Zaman top-scored for Pakistan with 27 runs, while skipper Babar Azam could only manage 10 runs.

India’s innings saw them post an impressive total of 356-2 in their allotted 50 overs. Virat Kohli remained unbeaten with 122 runs, and KL Rahul contributed 111 not out. This victory marked India’s most significant win against Pakistan in ODIs in terms of runs and Pakistan’s third heaviest ODI defeat against any team.
